My return to Varanasi, India, after a trip to Europe marked the beginning of a profound transformation. I chose to live on one of the ghats, immersing myself in the city's spiritual energy. The months spent in Varanasi were a journey of introspection, allowing me to tap into the depths of my subconscious mind. The silence of the ghats, the gentle flow of the Ganges, and the rich history of the city all combined to awaken a sense of awareness within me.
As I sat in stillness, I began to feel the weight of time and memories, intertwined in my mind like the threads of a tapestry. Answers to life's questions began to emerge, often before I even posed them. It was as if the universe was guiding me, revealing truths that transcended words. My stay in Varanasi was a catalyst for realization, one that continues to shape my perspective on life.
This experience built upon the foundation I had established during my time at the Art of Living International Ashram in Bengaluru. The ashram life had already cleared the clouds of my mind, allowing me to see the world with greater clarity. The combination of these two experiences has been transformative, enabling me to appreciate the beauty of life and the vast potential for growth and exploration. My art, expressed through colors, has been a witness to my journey.
Each piece reflects a moment, a feeling, or a realization. As I continue on this path, I am reminded that life is a canvas waiting to be filled with the vibrant hues of experience and knowledge. The journey is ongoing, and I look forward to exploring the many wonders that life has to offer.
Embracing Adventure and Self-Discovery
In 2001, I embarked on an unforgettable adventure, traversing approximately 2000 km on my trusted classic motorbike, a 1950's AJS; with paints, canvas, and maps in tow, I set out to experience the vast and diverse landscapes of western Bharat. My journey began from New Delhi and culminated in Mumbai, winding its way through the desert highway of Rajasthan.
As I rode, I immersed myself in the local culture, capturing the vibrant colors and rich traditions of India through my art. I held exhibitions along the way, sharing my experiences and connecting with fellow travellers and locals. The journey unfolded amidst the beauty and diversity of our country; each mile revealing a new story, a new landscape, and a new cultural nuance.
The experience was similar to an intricate carpet woven by countless artists over centuries. A celebration of the country's rich heritage, from the majestic architecture to the warm hospitality of its people. Not only did it leave an indelible mark on my heart, but also left me with the burning desire to embark on many more adventures, to explore this incredible nation.
I am blessed to have had the opportunity to ride through the various states of western India soaking up its beauty, culture, and traditions at a time, when ‘connectivity’ meant letters and STD calls, and maps meant dog-eared folded piece of paper; when GPS meant stopping to ask for directions and homestays meant the generosity of a random acquaintance.
Yoga has been my guiding light on my spiritual journey. Trained at the Art of Living Bengaluru Ashram under Kishenji, I've gained profound insights and wisdom. Yoga bridges the finite self to infinite consciousness, transforming my life. As a recognized yoga teacher from the Government of India and International Yoga Alliance, I conduct workshops to spread awareness. Through art, I express the magnificence of yoga's benefits. It's a journey of self-discovery, and I'm humbled to share its wisdom with others. Yoga's impact on my life has been immense, and I'm grateful for its transformative power.
